Senior Quantity Surveyor – Construction
Location: UK (Hybrid / Site-Based as Required)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading construction company renowned for delivering high-quality commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is a key position within the commercial team, responsible for managing all financial and contractual aspects of major projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional commercial acumen, technical expertise, and leadership ability, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of compliance and profitability.
You will act as a trusted commercial advisor, working closely with project management, procurement, and client teams to drive efficiency, minimise risk, and maximise value.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Management
Manage all aspects of quantity surveying across multiple live projects.
Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
Conduct detailed cost analysis, cash flow management, and value engineering.
Oversee interim valuations, final accounts, and change management processes.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of applications for payment and variations.
Monitor project expenditure and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
Contract & Procurement Oversight
Administer and manage contracts under JCT and NEC forms.
Draft, negotiate, and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements.
Evaluate tenders and ensure robust procurement strategies are in place.
Ensure all contractual obligations and compliance requirements are met.
Project Support & Delivery
Collaborate with project teams to ensure financial control and risk mitigation.
Attend site meetings, progress reviews, and client briefings as required.
Provide cost and commercial reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
Support the commercial team in dispute resolution, claims preparation, and negotiations.
Leadership & Team Development
Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and assistants.
Promote best practice, accuracy, and efficiency in all commercial functions.
Drive collaboration across commercial, design, and delivery teams.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 7–10 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
Proven track record in managing high-value commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and financial management skills.
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (RICS accredited preferred).
Chartered status (MRICS) desirable but not essential.
Strong IT proficiency (MS Excel, CostX, COINS, or similar).
Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
