  • Collaborate with the CEO and board to define business objectives, growth plans, and market positioning.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to anticipate changes and adapt strategy proactively.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Oversee all pricing, bids, tenders, and contract negotiations across logistics, haulage, and fleet management divisions.

  • Optimise P&L performance, ensuring profitability, cost efficiency, and return on investment.

  • Lead commercial forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities in partnership with the finance team.

  • Evaluate commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard company interests.

Operational Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, transport planning, and supply chain teams to ensure service excellence and contract compliance.

  • Support fleet optimisation, logistics planning, and customer service delivery through commercial oversight and data-led insight.

  • Introduce commercial performance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all departments.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and external partners.

  • Represent the company in senior client meetings, trade associations, and industry forums.

  • Ensure commercial transparency, accountability, and customer satisfaction at every level of service delivery.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing commercial team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

  • Promote a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.

  • Support professional development and succession planning across commercial and operational teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior commercial role within transport, logistics, or supply chain.

  • Proven record of delivering commercial growth, profitability, and long-term client partnerships.

  • Strong knowledge of logistics contracts, fleet operations, and transport legislation.

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Degree-qualified in Business, Logistics, or a related field; MBA or Chartered status (CILT, IoSCM, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team management capabilities.
