About the Role

Oakwood Victoria is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team within the rapidly evolving software and AI sector. This is a pivotal strategic role for an ambitious, commercially astute finance leader who will help scale our business, guide financial strategy, and shape our growth trajectory in an era of innovation and expansion.

As CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, providing analytical insight, and ensuring that the company’s financial infrastructure supports its long-term strategic vision. You will partner with the CEO and senior leadership team to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and investor confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives, supporting the company’s mission to innovate in software and artificial intelligence.

  • Financial Planning & Analysis:
    Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking, delivering data-driven insights that influence key business decisions.

  • Operational Finance Management:
    Oversee financial operations, cash flow management, compliance, and reporting across all business units.

  • Corporate Governance:
    Ensure robust financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance with UK statutory and tax obligations.

  • Investment & Capital Strategy:
    Support fundraising, investor relations, and capital allocation decisions to drive sustainable growth.

  • Commercial Strategy:
    Evaluate and optimise pricing models, margins, and business performance across software and AI products.

  • Leadership & Team Development:
    Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, embedding a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Technology & Innovation:
    Champion financial digital transformation — leveraging automation, AI-driven analytics, and SaaS tools to improve accuracy and speed of reporting.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least 10 years of post-qualified experience, including leadership roles.

  • Proven track record as a CFO or Finance Director within the software, AI, or technology sectors.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a deep understanding of SaaS business models, subscription-based revenue, and R&D tax incentives.

  • Experience managing investor relations and capital raising (VC or PE exposure advantageous).

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analysis tools.

  • Strategic thinker capable of balancing innovation with disciplined financial management.
